Pairings: G1 Megatron x TFA Optimus Prime

The couple forgot about Hook once they locked optics and if he didn't know any better, it sounded like his leader was actually flirting with the young mech.

Megatron stepped back and helped the Autobot off the exam table. Optimus was a little wobbly and he held on for support, his hand resting on his captor's arm. His optics met Megatron's and the couple stared each other with enough heat to torch the whole slagging base.

"Prisoner, my aft," Hook thought.

Suddenly, he didn't want to be anywhere near the couple or Megatron would blast him for disturbing Decepticon/ Autobot relations. The medic started to back out of the room when his com link clicked on. Mercifully he had turned the speaker off and he was the only one that heard it.

"Hook report," a voice droned. The medic didn't flinch, which was a minor miracle but his spark stopped. When he didn't answer, Soundwave repeated the request.

"Not now," Hook said, trying to creep out before he was noticed. But when he stepped back, his crane bumped a tool rack. The clang scared him almost as much as the photon cannon aimed in his direction. Megatron frowned at the intrusion and was blocking his little pet from the perceived danger.

"So he needs refueling?" the tyrant asked, lowering the weapon as if nothing happened.

"Yes, sir...and recharge," Hook said and he coughed, "Just remember my instructions about his fuel intake. Or he can stay here until-"

"That won't be necessary," Megatron said and removed a tarp from his hip compartment, draping it around  his pet's shoulders.

Optimus was smarter than most of his kind, he wasn't complaining about being the boss' pet. Also he was relatively at ease with the mech who almost killed him. Maybe the Autobots from his world had courtships like Decepticons.

The young mech didn't protest when Megatron adjusted the tarp into a makeshift robe. But he did look peeved when tyrant pulled it over like a cowl. That hid Optimus' helm and face, but he looked peeved about this.

"Would you rather hide in a crate? That can be arranged," Megatron said with a smirk.

Draped under the tarp, Optimus'  shape was hidden by the heavy material. His optics were a dead giveaway of his faction though. In the interest of protecting his new project, Hook had to make a suggestion.

"Sir, if he tinted his optics that will draw less attention. And so will changing to a darker paint job," the master builder said.

"I like his paint. But you have a point," Megatron said. Seeing an opening, Hook pressed onward.

"With your permission, he can be upgraded. Underneath the plating we have a lot common with him. And since we're translating his designs for our use, we can modify our designs to his specs."

"Wait a clik," Optimus said.

"Shh. Mini-bots have more armor than you do, pet. So what changes are we talking about?" Megatron asked, placing his hand on the smaller mech's shoulder.

"Optimus has a lot potential for being so frail. We could even make him a flyer if you wanted," Hook said, his visor gleaming, "But the more immediate concerns are replacing his armor and reinforcing his frame."

"I'll consider it. Thank you, Hook. Excellent work," Megatron said, " Call me when the replacement parts are done."

----------------------

Megatron left with his prisoner and once they were outside, Hook crossed his arms and grumbled. That barbarian was going to interface with the Autobot the first chance he got. Optimus would be back in for repairs by morning.

Somewhere there was a whole planet of those bots and while it would be fascinating to study them, Hook had an infatuation with this one. That tapered waist and grill were charming.

While the Autobot yielded valuable data this wasn't going to last. Megatron was just fooling himself. He couldn't keep that little thing around here. Either his own troops would find a way to get rid of his pet or the Autobots would take him back.
However the odds could be tipped in his AND Megatron's favor.

Optimus had all the trappings of an early model Con, but his design was re-engineered to make use of some very advanced tech. His power system was gloriously obscene, both fuel efficient and powerful.  His weapon was easy to replace but Hook wanted something with more punch to it.

He went over to his computer and pulled up some older Decepticon designs until he found one that matched. Bringing up the model's specs,  he clicked on its weapon. This was too large the little Autobot to wield in his present form, but it could still be scaled down for his build.

"Arming you might be considered treason," Hook said, studying diagrams of the axe. With some tweaking and Optimus would have a weapon of his own as a little gift.

Hook rubbed his chin, feeling his age.

Design. Build. Destroy. Repeat. That was their collective fate, just like everything else he created. The constant cycle of destruction wore the spark down. Grapple once lamented that their accomplishments would never be recognized, and faced ruin in the end. Hook remembered both him and Hoist fondly, they were very forgiving of him and they left him a beautiful memory.

Such is fate.

The what-ifs were tantalizing though, just like this axe.  A weapon might help Optimus escape, but it would give him a fighting chance if he were caught without his master.  And it may even protect Megatron's life.

"You can't fool me, Autobot. And neither can he ," Hook said, rather smug as he contacted the other Constructions.  They trickled in when Soundwave called again. That overgrown  boombox was probably green with envy over the Megatron's new pet.

"Maybe I should have told Optimus to avoid him as well," Hook muttered.

-----------------------------
-----------------------------

After they left the med bay Optimus fell quiet, mentally going over the list of which mechs to avoid. Hook had made him repeat this back as a test of his cognitive functions.

The top offenders were Starscream, Brawl and Motormaster, then followed by rest of the Stunticons and Combacticons, the Cassetticons, the Seekers and just about anything with a Decepticon emblem. They'd all want him dead, though a mech named Soundwave was relatively calm.

"He'll think of Megatron's reaction before killing you. And Thundercracker might do the same thing but don't count on it. And Dead End will just say "What's the use?" and leave you alone," the medic said, "I won't lay a hand against you either. Wouldn't want to hurt my star specimen."

Optimus knew these bots would rip his Cybertron apart, but if this universe's Autobots held them at bay that raised his hopes for both his people and for Earth. If he could just warn them of the threat, then they could prepare. But they probably lost his signal when he and Rodimus chased the escaping Cons through the bridge.

The whole time he was in the cave with this Megatron, he never heard from Rod or the others. Maybe they warped in to an ambush. And his mate never mentioned seeing other bots.

For now Megatron lost interest in that Cybertron, but if these Cons opened a gateway to retrieve their leader, they could return at any time. His Cybertron wasn't safe unless they could find some weakness. Optimus had know more about these Cons, especially since his mate planned on upgrading them.

In the halls of the Decepticon base, the young Autobot faced a more immediately danger as they passed curious bots of all kinds. Shrouded under the tarp, he was hidden to them and they were was curious. There was laughter and comments, but no one said the word Autobot.

Cuffed and with Megatron's hand on his shoulder, Optimus seemed like a prisoner and if he kept his head down then no one would really care. But he had to see what these bots looked like.

They walked with heavy footsteps and they looked as wide as buildings. Even the smaller ones were armed and dangerous. Any one of these mechs could kill him the moment he was out of Megatron's sight. Or worse.

When a tank alt smirked in his direction the young mech almost bolted, terrified of what it would do if it caught him alone. Megatron aimed his cannon at the offending mech then picked Optimus up.

"Go limp," his mate whispered. The young mech obeyed and the tarp fell over his face. To others, Megatron carried a shrouded mech, seemingly in stasis or maybe even offlined.

This 'playing possum' was a useful tactic and Optimus rested his head against Megatron's chest,  still uneasy about not seeing where he was going. The discussion in the med bay bothered him too. Switching over to his com link, he spoke up.

"So you're going to use my designs for your troops?"

"It was inevitable," his mate said and a door shut behind them. Optimus winced at the lurch of the elevator and Megatron actually clicked in sympathy, pushing the  tarp away to look at him.  The young mech ignored the fluttering in his spark and continued with  his complaint.

"But this will make things worse!"

"Hook would do these upgrades anyway, he'd figure this out from repairing you. And the Autobots will do the same thing. Once their Prime returns, he's bound to bring that impostor with him and when they discover the differences, they'll use those designs for their bots."

"Why would their leader bring back a Decepticon?" the young mech said.

"Prime may hate me, but I doubt he'd leave a weak and injured mech behind," Megatron said, "He'll return soon."

"What do you mean?" Optimus asked and moved, trying to look up at his mate.

"Pet, you're supposed to be a prisoner. Lay still," Megatron said as tapped his mate's knee," An Autobot search party arrived about the time we were leaving. We still don't know if they found him yet. But they will."

"And if they don't?"

"This is Optimus Prime. And as much as I hate to say it,  if anyone can find their way back from an alternate reality it's him," Megatron said with admiration.

"Oh."

Of course that Prime was capable of such things, he was leader of the Autobots and Megatron respected him in an opponent. Optimus went slack again, using it as an excuse to press closer to his mate. Though his hands were bound, he tried to clutch at the bigger mech, feeling awkward and oddly possessive

"Your affection overwhelms me," Megatron rasped and his voice had a husky edge that was warmer than before. Optimus shivered at the sultry tone. His mate then chuckled and said, "Already jealous. I swear there must be some Decepticon to you."
Part of a G1 Megatron x TFA Optimus AU called Diamonds and Rust .Previous fics are here. ^^ [link]

Bwee wanted to post this sooner, but I had to wait. The comp was acting up after an update and we finally had to roll it back to an earlier date.

Shoulda posted this when I finished the fic but the title was the hard part. Most go finish editing other stuff.

And I don't mean to slash every chara. Hook kinda slipped that by me. >_>

Edit:

EEEEE! This was one of the fan fics featured in Project Comment: 0-5 Comments Issue 59 . Here the link.

I am just so giddy right now, especially since this fic is in the middle of series and it was still picked. ^^;
